CLUTTERMAN'S UNCLUTTERED CORNER
"FOR THE PEOPLE*
Hi -
*Ideally, governments are supposed to represent their respective
constituencies. They should be organized to identify with, understand,
be sensitive to, and hopefully responsive to the needs of the people.
Even in some totalitarian regimes, there is an element of leadership
that provides some tacit, if not substantive supportive treatment of its
citizenry. However horrible and unconscionable the treatment meted to
the poor suffering souls in several of the African nations, there
appears to be a new low in unmitigated indifference toward fellow human
beings. Such is the case in **Myanmar** (aka **Burma**).*
*An estimated 2.5 million people remain in dire straits. As a result of
a cyclone that recently ravaged the Irrawaddy Delta, they have been
uprooted from their homes, are threatened by disease, hunger, and a
promise of an early death, or if they survive, a future filled with
grief and ongoing suffering. *
*Nations from around the world have offered assistance, only to be
repelled by the **Myanmar** ruling junta with their xenophobic
mentality. So many have thus far perished as a direct result of the lack
of aid and intervention by the “Ruling Generals,” and the other cretins
who hold their people hostage. Apathy, corruption, and incompetence
appear to be the mainstay of these ruling despots. *
*Other than issuing meaningless condemnations, the U.N. appears to be
both administratively as well as militarily impotent to ameliorate the
abject horrors facing the citizens of **Myanmar**. The **United States**
and other nations have been most responsive in providing food, potable
water, medical and other services, only to be rebuffed by the ruling
junta idiots. I only wish they would somehow find themselves, as with
several other dictators, in the living hell that they have perpetrated
on their subjects!*
