SISTA’ MEAN SAYS...
A THANK YOU JESUS MOMENT
Have you ever experienced one of those “Praise the Lord; thank you Jesus” moments where you just wanted to break into some kind of spiritual praise dance right in the middle of the grocery store? It is moments when you hear yourself saying out loud, thank God I escaped and thank you Lord for keeping me from, apparently what was once, a well put together paramour whose sexuality and charisma could definitely charm me out of my pants.
A long forgotten unpleasant memory has just crash-landed before you right in the middle dairy section. Coming unexpectedly face to face in an unguarded moment with a perambulating nightmare from one’s past portends an unnerving experience. One’s usually clear thinking mind suddenly clouds and rewinds to replay the previous misadventure; an emotional drama where you begged and pleaded with this person for more (or less) of whatever it was that almost drove you to the brink of despair. Your body, now aroused, senses rising heat, sweating palms, a racing pulse, feelings of light headedness. You want to flee. Your feet freeze. Your stomach knots and wants to throw-up breakfast. Your body has just relived the events of the ill-fated affair; and it all happened in a flash! Now what?
With luck, your rational mind will kick-in to help you recognize what now reveals itself as manipulation and control, where you formerly caved under the pressure of “I lust you,” misunderstood as love. Now you recognize the blessing of not having gotten that which you thought you wanted so badly and realize how fortunate you are that the Almighty made a way of escape from an individual who never had your best interest at heart.
We all possess a notion of what we believe is right for us. If it’s a warm fuzzy felling deep inside we call it love. It’s not. Its lust and we are confused. Love doesn’t feel warm and fuzzy. That’s sex, and the stuff of much complication when mishandled.
Sadly, for some, neither neither luck nor common sense kicks-in. Those are the people, lacking self control, who get carried away by a wave of emotion and make the morning news headlines.
Thankfully, the stigma of seeking help to deal with one’s mental demons has passed. For others immersed in unhappiness and depression and unable to release the pain, professional help is available. Too much of an apparition doesn’t make it real.
Should you experience a Hallelujah moment and the accompanying sensation of revelation knowledge where the fog clears and you catch, at long last, the meaning of the old church spiritual, “understand it better by and by”. When everything makes sense give thanks for the one that got away. Congratulate yourself. You have survived and what a relief that is!
